What is a Pinot Colada?

A pinot colada is similar to a traditional piña colada, except you add wine - preferably, pinot grigio. No blender required! A traditional piña colada recipe contains primarily just rum as the alcohol base. So consider this recipe to be a little more potent, than your average colada.

This tropical colada is the perfect combination of smooth, sweet, and fruity. The ingredients are simple and crafting this up in the kitchen is extremely easy. You could serve this cocktail at a variety of occasions such as:

  • Summer cookouts

  • Pool party

  • Birthday party

  • Bridal shower

  • Baby Shower

  • Or just lounging around the house in the Spring & Summer.

The tropical cocktail with a twist, will have you daydreaming of being beachside under the sun. Featuring Barefoot Pinot Grigio and paired with EATABLE Poppin' Pinot Grigio popcorn, this mix will brighten your day like a warm day at the beach!

Wine Pinot Colada Recipe

  • 250ml Barefoot Pinot Grigio

  • 40ml Coconut Rum

  • 100ml Pineapple Juice

  • Garnish: Pineapple Slices

Ingredients

Pinot Grigio - The Wine Pinot Colada recipe calls for Barefoot Pinot Grigio wine. Barefoot's Pinot Grigio is the perfect Pinot for this recipe. The wine is a bit on the dry side which is great as it is balanced out by the sweet and smooth texture of the coconut rum. Barefoot's Pinot Grigio hints flavours of citrus and pear which surprisingly works very well when in combination with coconut and pineapple notes.

Coconut Rum - I used Malibu Rum for this recipe. If you are not a fan of Malibu you can always opt out the brand for equal parts of rum and coconut water as an alternative. I prefer Malibu because the rum has smooth-like consistency and balances out the tartness of the wine.

Pineapple Juice - We didn't have fresh pineapple juice on hand so we decided to use our favourite store-bought brand of Dole Pineapple Juice. In my opinion, the pineapple juice from Dole taste the closest to freshly squeezed. If you have fresh pineapple juice on hand, use this instead of store bought.
